OPENING TIMBER MANTLEPIECE
We were recently asked by a builder client to design and build a timber mantlepiece for a high end renovation in Noosaville Queensland.
They customer wanted clean simple lines but still utilising solid timber. In addition the brief required all the corners to be mitred. This aspect becomes more difficult when you only have two sides. Not a full box.
Apart from being decorative, it also needed to hide all the associated electronic that go with TVs nowadays. Foxtel Box, Blue Ray Player Etc. To allow full access, the mantlepiece needed to have a lift up to and a drop down front.
Initially the client wanted to use piano hinge on the lid however we convinced him a more aesthetic result would be achieved with brass butt hinges. He agreed and the end result was a classic piece of timber work.
All products including the Gas Struts, Push To Open Mechanism and the Gas Struts were supplied by BLUM.
